Title
Netting Alewives, East Machias, Maine
Artist
Eileen Patten Oliver
Medium
Painting - Oil On Gessobord
Description
This painting is of a father and son catching Alewives in Gardner Lake in East Machias, Maine. Alewives are used for lobster bait. I was inspired not only of fond memories of the area and activities near where I lived in Lubec, Maine, but also by a photo taken by my friend, Jason Overby, and used as reference with his kind permission.

Such a joyful painting. Macias, Maine, I was there once. I can see the scene now. Oh, how wonderful. A celebration of family. L/F
